SAFETY of treatment in dental clinic TRI-NITI

We pay special attention to sterility of instruments and materials.

Such microorganisms as cytomegalovirus, hepatitis viruses B and C, herpes simplex 1 and 2 types, human immunodeficiency virus, staphylococci, streptococci can be transmitted during the teeth treatment. In addition, it is also possible to be infected by syphilis, tuberculosis, infectious mononucleosis.
According to WHO, one of the 30 cases of doctor's hands cut during the reception of patients ends with the infection of hepatitis, 1 of 300 ends with AIDS.

We have a well equipped sterilization room, where disinfection, sterilization and packaging of instruments are carried in accordance with applicable standards in Ukraine.

We take care about the health of our patients and protect them from cross infection.

Disinfection is a complex of measures aimed at the destruction of infectious agents and the destruction of toxins on infected instruments, clothes, surrounding objects by physical or chemical effects on them with disinfectants.

isinfection reduces the number of microorganisms to an acceptable level, but does not eliminate them completely. This is a type of decontamination.

Sterilization is the process of destroying of all microorganisms, including spores, by influencing on them with warmth, radiation, chemicals or filtration.

Sterilization room of clinic "Tri-niti" is equipped with such devices:
- Ultrasonic bath for cleaning instruments "Ultrasonic Cleaner";
- Steam sterilizer (autoclave) "SterilClave", firm "Cominox" (Italy);
- Distiller (Italy);
- Apparatus for packing instruments in kraft bags «Euroseal Plus» (Italy);
- Air sterilizer (dry-heat case) "GP-80" (Russia).

Each dental instrument, that was used for treating the patient, first passes all stages of before-sterilization processing and then is thoroughly sterilized in accordance with regulations of sanitary-epidemiological regimen.

This process includes:
- Soaking the instruments in a disinfectant solution "Descoton Forte", which is made from raw materials and according to the technology of Dr.Schumacher company.

Mechanical cleaning of instruments in the ultrasonic bath "Ultrasonic cleaner"

Washing the instruments with distilled water.

Packing the instruments in special sealed kraft bags for sterilization

Direct sterilization of instruments in a steam sterilizer with the help of the high pressure (autoclave) "SterilSlave" (Italy) or in the air sterilizer under the high temperatures.

Sterilization of instruments in the air sterilizer under temperature 180 ° C.

Storage of sterile instruments in special germicidal cameras "PANMED"

Control of sterilization process is carried out in 2 ways simultaneously:

1. Using the multiparameter indicators for each sterilization cycle.
2. Visual control over devices of sterilizing equipment.

Monthly control of sterility of medical instruments by bacteriological methods in the laboratory of sanitary-epidemiological station in Kyiv.
For providing the continuity of work in clinic the multiple reserve of sterile dental instruments is created.
 In order to provide the aseptic conditions the bactericidal lamp «Philips» was installed in the sterilization department.

The tidal-exhaust system of ventilation is used in dental clinic "Tri-niti". It allows to achieve the quick and safe decontamination and ventilation of the cabinet.

The special quartz lamp is also installed in our cabinets. The dust is formed while tooth boring, that contains millions of microorganisms. Dust settles on walls, ceiling and other surfaces, we breathe, and there is additional exposure of the body. Quartz lamp is switched on in the intervals between patients' attendance and it reduces the number of bacteria that are flying in the air in several dozen times.

The dentists and assistants in our clinic use personal protection equipment (masks, gloves, glasses, plates) for comfortable treatmant.

The breast wipes for the patient, salivary ejector, vacuum cleaner, a glass for rinsing the mouth, doctors and assistants' gloves are also disposable in the clinic.

Another important point of the observance of all antiseptic rules is a thorough handwash with special solutions "Baktolin" and "Sterillium" by dentists.

For the safety of patients and clinic staff the disposable overshoes are used, which our visitors wear at the beginning of attendance. Overshoes are worn over shoes and prevent dust and dirt from getting to the dentist office from the street.

Instruments which are in contact with the patient's mouth, are processed with the using of modern disinfectants, with following sterilization in the autoclave in special kraft bags, which are opened in the presence of the patient.
Each bag has a date, time and name a of nurse, who has made sterilization.

Each package contains a special indicator, which changes the colour and indicates a disfunction when the non-compliance of autoclaving regimes occurs. Thus, the system of double control of instruments sterilization is working.

The use of an autoclave, unlike the traditional dry-heat sterilizer, can fully carry out the sterilization of rollers, napkins, and other medical products from paper, rubber, glass and plastic. The presence of an autoclave can also produce high-quality sterilization of dental handpieces. (In most clinics the chemical processing is carried out).

In our dental units the special stomatological vacuums are mounted in addition to regular salivary ejectors. Due to their presence the patients and med.personal do not inhale the dust particles, that are formed during the tooth boring.

For cleaning the burrs, endodontic and small instruments we use a special ultrasonic bath, which allows to reach high quality of cleaning and sterilization.

One of the important factors, that affects the safety of dental treatment, is the processing of dental handpiece. This device is directly in contact with the patient's oral cavity and plays an important role in transmission. The right way is the processing with disinfective solution after each patient and autoclaving at the end of the day. This makes the necessary presence of an autoclave in the clinic.
Storage of instruments after sterilization untill the attendance of a patient is made in the UV camera "Panmed".

Napkins, cups, salivary ejectors, gloves, chest wipes, staff masks are disinfected after the use and utilized in special containers, which are removed.
